Mac App Store Update for OS X Snow Leopard At some point in this process I installed this patch from Apple before getting it up to Sierra, but I dont believe it helped in anyway. Otherwise, there was nothing available in the app store for the jump to Lion and beyond. I used my personal icloud login to gain access to the later OS updates through the "purchases" tab in the App Store. I didn't think I'd be able to get it to the latest in recovery mode, so I figured I could manage the upgrade upfront and then wipe. I figured it would be best to upgrade to the latest possible OS before wiping. It was barely used with literally nothing on the HD but still running Snow Leopard. The Imac was a relative of my boss and he did not know the password - so I managed to reset it in single user mode. I wanted to wipe it clean to give to one my team members so I did the following: Can't do anything after that other than going through the same process again. I click continue and it says "Loading installation information." After about 45 seconds it times out and throws up "NO BAG ENTRY". In recovery mode I select "Reinstall macOS", click continue and it says "To download and restore macOS, your computers eligibility will be verified with Apple" (Knowing that it will need internet access to do this, I turn on the wi-fi and connect successfully). Have an Imac late 2009 that was donated by my boss so that I could use it in my art department - I wanted to wipe and reinstall clean.
